Iiris is located in Itäkeskus in Helsinki, just a 15 minute metro ride from the city centre or a 22 minute taxi ride from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport.

The building is accessible to persons with sensory or physical handicaps as well as to other disabled clients.

      Public transportation

      The Iiris Centre is situated near the Itäkeskus metro station. Itäkeskus is easily reached by public transport. The metro station is located next to the Itis shopping centre and the Iiris Centre is only a 5 minute walk away.

      The comfortable accommodation quarters of the Iiris Centre offer 40 accessible rooms.

      Most of the spacious rooms are twin-bedded, but some of them can also be furnished with extra beds and children's cots. Many of the rooms have a connecting door, making them ideal for family use.

      Each room is equipped with an accessible bathroom, a fridge, radio and a wireless internet-connection.

      If you are coming as a group, you can request the sauna and pool area for private use. Please do not hesitate to ask for any further information or services we might be able to offer you.

      • Double room: 49 €/night/person
      • Extra bed: 25 €/night

      Prices for people with visual impairment:

      All prices include a VAT of 10 %.

      Conference rooms


      The Braille auditorium is especially well suited  for arranging seminars and lectures, or even concerts and performances because the movable wall between Braille and the next door Näyttämö space can be opened to create a large stage-like space.

      The auditorium seats up to 120 persons. It has ascending seats for 100 persons with extra space for wheelchairs and additional seats in the front.

      The auditorium has top level technological equipment, including, for instance, a data projector, computer with Internet connections and microphones. The auditorium has good sound reproduction and an inductive loop for the hard-of-hearing. With the aid of a bass loudspeaker in the floor also deaf-blind visitors may sense the lowest sounds. The auditorium has an interpretation service system into three languages.

      Meeting rooms

      The meeting rooms for 8 to 40 persons include for instance a data projector and screen as well as white- and flap boards.

      Equipment and technical support are included in the rent for the premises. When booking, please mention what kind of equipment is needed.

      Museum of Visual Impairment

      The history of the visually impaired including schooling and professional education as well as professions practiced by the visually impaired.


      The Restaurant Iiris offers a varied range of service packages from serving breakfast to three course business lunches. The menu can be planned according to personal wishes or special diets.

      Meals may be taken in the sunny and well-lit dining room with 120 seats, or in a chosen meeting room. On cocktail occasions, the restaurant space may be extended into the hall and the broad main corridor with its wooden gates and glass walls.

      The restaurant is open to public.
