The main national-scale and capital city area services for visually impaired persons are now located in the IIRIS Centre - the service and activity centre for the visually impaired.
The IIRIS Centre was specifically designed for blind, partially sighted and deaf-blind visitors. The building is accessible to persons with sensory or physical handicaps as well as to other disabled clients.
The IIRIS Centre is also a well functioning training and congress centre situated within good communications. The multipurpose premises are suited to occasions attended by as many as 300 persons.
The IIRIS Centre is the solution provided by many organizations to the problem of inadequate premises, a problem which has been pestering the services for the visually impaired for years.
The common premises in the IIRIS Centre are being used effectively and in many various ways. During the days the premises are used for rehabilitation, training, and employment. In evenings and weekends they are at the disposal of visually impaired persons' organizations and hobby circles.
In future, more and more people will be needing the services for the visually impaired. As the population grows older there will be an increase in the number of those with deteriorating eyesight and visual impairment.
Those services which earlier lay scattered are now easily found under one roof.
